Active Outdoor Sport

Established in 2008 Active Outdoor Sport delivers a range of outdoor events in Norfolk & Suffolk. Specialising in small to medium events with a focus on encouraging grass roots participation our events include triathlon, open water swimming and running. In 2010 Active Outdoor Sport established an open water swimming venue at Fritton Lake to support the development of outdoor swimming. With training days and coaching also available at Fritton Lake Outdoor Centre we aim to empower people with the confidence to take part in sporting events.

With our triathlons ranging from pool based Super Sprints, ideal for novices making their debut in multisport, to the Triple Tri Challenge where more experienced triathletes complete three open water triathlons in one weekend, we really do have an event for everyone. For details of all our 2018 events please click on the links below.

I have been involved in the development of triathlon within Norfolk for over 12 years.  Starting with the management and implementation of the Norfolk Triathlon project from 2006 to 2009, which saw the introduction of a range of events that continue today, including the Norwich Triathlon, the North Norfolk Triathlon, the Norwich Junior Triathlon, the Fritton Lake Triathlon and East Coast Triathlon.  As Active Outdoor Sport I maintained control of the Fritton Lake Triathlon and the East Coast Triathlon from this project and have added in the North Walsham Victory Triathlon in 2011 and the Stradbroke Triathlon in 2015.  With the ongoing development of our outdoor activities operation I have now decided to reduce our involvement with these events and pass these on to others.

With this in mind I am pleased to announce that Tri Harder Triathlon Club will be taking over the running of the East Coast Triathlon and the North Walsham Victory Triathlon. Tri Harder have been a supportive partner at our events for many years and I envisage a smooth handover to them, of these two pool based events.  The Stradbroke Triathlon will be taken over by Iain and Jill Dawson of Beacon Triathlon club.  Many of you will know Iain as a prolific performer in para triathlon at international level and he and Jill are looking forward to progressing into event management and being part of the continued success of the Stradbroke Triathlon. You will still see me about at these events providing support where I can.

We will continue to deliver a range of events at Fritton Lake but I am looking for partners to help with the delivery of the Fritton Lake Triathlon.  If you would like to be involved in the delivery of one or more of the races that make up the Fritton Triathlon weekend then please get in touch.

Thanks, Simon Edwards.
